Ambassador Vincent De Visscher tours NUREP projects Between 17th and 20th November 2009, the Head of Delegation of European Commission to Uganda Ambassador Vincent De Visscher toured NUREP projects in Gulu, Lira, Kitgum and Pader. During the tour, the ambassador together with the Minister of State for Northern Uganda, represented by the Commissioner for PRDP Ms. Elisabeth Allimadi Ociti, commissioned Palaro Sub county headquarters, Madi Opei Police Post in Kitgum and the LCV Chairperson for Gulu. The two officials also paid courtesy calls on the district leaders of Kitgum and Pader and made an assessment of on-going works at Anwata Primary and Latanya Health Centre II in Lira and Pader districts respectively.

Districts to review PRDP progress-Allimadi
Districts will conduct regular self assessment on the implementation of the Peace Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP), Ms. Elisabeth Allimadi Ociti, the Commissioner for PRDP in the Office of the Prime Minister, has said. Ms. Allimadi was speaking during the commissioning of Madi Opei Police Post in Kitgum District on 20th November 2009.

Prime Minister’s office receives modern office block
The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Professor Apollo Nsibambi has commissioned the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Gulu. The two office blocks were rehabilitated by Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme (NUREP) at the tune of UGX 240 million. Speaking at the ceremony on 4th March 2009 in Gulu, Prime Minister Prof. Nsibambi, represented by the State Minister for Northern Uganda, Hon. David Wakikona reiterated that the offices are simply a facility which will be used to carry out the life transforming projects in the communities. He thanked the European Union for their contribution of over UGX 40 billion to the PRDP through NUREP. Nsibambi noted that a lot of work has to be done to restore the lives and economy of the 7 million people in this region. |

Inter District Coordination Meetings Held |

Two Inter Districts Committee Coordination Meetings were held, on Tuesday 9th December 2008 and Wednesday, 10th December 2008 for Acholi Region / Adjumani District & Lango Region respectively. The meetings were held in Gulu – Hotel Pearl Afrique and Lira – Hotel St. Lira for Acholi Region / Adjumani district & Lango Region respectively. These meetings target high level district leaders such as LC V Chairpersons, Resident District Commissioners, Chief Administrative Officers, Assistant Chief Administrative Officers together with NUREP Regional Coordinator and Deputy Regional Coordinator. The meetings were planned to provide opportunities for the leaders to come together, share experiences, lessons learnt and developed way forward / recommendations / Action Points concerning NUREP’s activities implementation. |

Hon. David Wakikona, State Minister for Northern Uganda Reconstruction has commissioned Panokrach and Coo-room HCIIs and solar power in the Amuru District headquarters. Represented by the Commissioner for PRDP in the Office of the Prime Minister Ms. Elisabeth Ocitti, the commissioning was also attended by the LC V Chairperson for Amuru Disrict Mr. Anthony Atube. |
