The Northern Uganda Rehabilitation Programme (NUREP)

Northern Uganda in September launched tenders for the rehabilitation works under the post Floods Programme for Teso. The tenders covered 6 lots of contracts worth € 50,000 and below. The works will involve sinking and repairing boreholes, as well as rehabilitation of social infrastructure such as health centres, schools and sub county offices.

The Post Floods Programme is a € 1.4 m grant extended by the European Union in August 2008 to rehabilitate social infrastructure destroyed by floods in Teso in 2007. Four districts, Katakwi, Amuria, Kaberamaido and Soroti will benefit from the over 70 projects to be undertaken under this Programme.
Opening the tenders for the first batch on 26th October 2009, the Programme Manager, Mr. Reint Bakema reiterated NUREP’s commitment to transparency and to deliver value for money on all these projects. He noted that time is of essence since all rehabilitation works must be completed  by 30th September 2010.
