NUREP hands over 8 classroom blocks |

Northern Uganda Rehabilitation has handed over 8 classroom blocks and a dormitory to local government authorities ahead of the beginning of the school second term. Three classroom blocks each at Omid and Odudui primary schools in Kaberamaido and Soroti District respectively, and a dormitory block at Gulu Primary School for the Blind Annex in Gulu were handed over on the 21st and 22nd of June by officials of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
Another 2 blocks were handed over at Opuk Primary School in Dokolo District on 23rd May 2009. The buildings have a combined value of UGX 714 million. The buildings have all been fully furnished to make them fully functional on the opening day of the school term. |

AVSI wins Photo Competition |
|
|
|
AVSI has won the photo competition among grantees for the first Call for Proposals. The competition launched in October 2008 targeted 8 grantees under the theme, “New Lives Through Peace and Development.” The winning photographs were chosen for their excellent approach to composition as well as an exhibition of good photography skills. According to the judges, “AVSI’s photos were captivating, and reflected the theme of the competition by showing hope for individuals as well as for their communities”. |

Post Floods Rehabilitation starts |

The Post Floods Rehabilitation Programme implemented by NUREP has kicked off. Speaking during a meeting with the district officials of the four beneficiary districts, the Programme Manager Mr. Reint Bakema revealed that the total budget under this Programme is Euros 1.4 M or UGX 3.5 bn.The NUREP team, which included the NUREP regional coordinator for Moroto Mr. Stefan Kluge and the Programme Officer Mr. Martin Wabwire held meetings with district officials from Soroti, Amuria, Katakwi and Kaberamaido. |
